Hobe Sound Polo Club Receives County Approval
Martin County Commissioners voted 4-1 to approve the Hobe Sound Polo Club on Bridge Road
On Tuesday, June 3, 2008, Martin County Commissioners voted 4-1 to approve the Hobe Sound Polo Club on Bridge Road, a half mile east of Interstate 95. The project is being developed Whitley Development Group, in partnership with Tucker Frederickson and Rockwood Capital Corporation, and in association with some of the most prominent names in polo, including patron Tim Gannon and professionals Adolfo Cambiaso and Andres Weisz. Whitley Development has been responsible for numerous, highly successful projects, including The Bear's Club, selected as one of the 14 best golf communities in the country, The Ritz Carlton Golf Club & Spa, as well as a number of award winning communities throughout the southeastern United States.
"We are extremely pleased and appreciative of the support we've received from the Martin County Commissioners and the community at large," said Bob Whitley, President of Whitley Development Group. "This is the final step in the approval process that now allows us to complete the project in line with the schedule we've provided our members," he added. "With this approval, our 5 polo fields and stick and ball fields will be ready for play by January 1 of next year."
Several founding members have already purchased lots on the property, including the consensus, number one, polo player in the world, Adolfo Cambiaso, whose barn with fellow Argentinian polo player, Andres Weisz is nearing completion. Tim Gannon co-founder of Outback Steakhouse, and avid polo player, and Ted Brinkmann, Wellington Veterinarian and polo player, have also purchased lots, as have several members of the Wellington polo community.
The first phase of the Hobe Sound Polo Club is a 1,303-acre development that will include 50 20-acre estate sites. The Club will also include a grand clubhouse with pool and tennis courts, five competition polo fields, two stick and ball fields, and a horse track around a lake, paddocks and miles of black four-board fencing. The community will also include extensive interlocking trails throughout the community, which adjoins over 8,000 acres in the Atlantic Ridge State Park. The Club is located seven miles from the beach inland from Jupiter Island, 20 minutes from Palm Beach International airport and just 30 minutes from Wellington and 10 minutes from Palm Beach Gardens.
